The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description The Deputy Chief Court Attorney to Court of Appeals serves in a confidential capacity and assists the Chief Court Attorney to Court of Appeals in supervising court attorneys, researching and analyzing legal issues and questions for the Court, and performing other related duties. ASSIGNMENT: Responsibilities include, among others, assigning work to court attorneys, editing their work, evaluating their performance, screening candidates for court attorney positions, supervising non-attorney personnel assigned to the Central Legal Research Staff, monitoring Central Legal Search Staff caseloads, and establishing work priorities. The applicant must demonstrate ability to handle sensitive matters on a confidential basis; train, supervise and coordinate the activities of a subordinate staff; edit and write clear, logical and concise prose; and assess the merits of competing legal arguments.
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Admission to the New York State Bar and one year of service in the Senior Court Attorney to Court of Appeals title; or Equivalent legal experience.
