What are the responsibilities and job description for the First Assistant Deputy Counsel (Capital Planning) position at Court Administration, Office of?
The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description This position will be responsible for providing advice and counsel to Unified Court System (UCS) Judicial and Executive Leadership regarding capital planning and court facilities issues. The duties of the position include, but are not limited to: serving as a liaison to local governments regarding their legal obligations to provide suitable and sufficient court facilities; representing the UCS on capital planning projects throughout the state, including providing advice and counsel on issues related to architectural services and facilities management; serving as Counsel to the Court Facilities Capital Review Board (CFCRB); drafting correspondence and other legal documents, including leases with private entities for court space; and other legal duties as assigned. The preferred candidate will possess exceptional written and oral communication, organizational and time management skills, with a proven record of successfully managing large projects. As Counsel to the CFCRB, the selected candidate will coordinate and moderate quarterly board meetings, and prepare reports and recommendations to the CFCRB in compliance with statutory requirements, rules and practices. Additional duties include, but are not limited to: collaborating with other attorneys in Counsel’s Office on court facility related litigation or FOIL responses; drafting and reviewing court facilities contracts and addressing financial reimbursement issues in collaboration with the Division of Financial Management; assisting with other contract and procurement legal matters as assigned. Some travel within NYS is required to meet with local government officials and visit court facilities, although in most cases the frequency and timing of such travel will be within the general discretion of the successful candidate. Candidates should have familiarity with the Microsoft Office Suite of products.
