Job Summary:
A Technical Content Creator is responsible for producing and managing product documentation, including creating informative customer training materials, knowledge base articles, tutorial videos, and more. The position is a Product Team role but will require cross-department interaction with the Marketing and Customer Success teams. The ideal candidate excels in writing instructional materials, enjoys teaching others, and is comfortable narrating short screen recordings to demonstrate features and setup instructions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Write and maintain user guides, FAQs, knowledge base articles, and technical documentation including a comprehensive Definitive Product Guide and Features Index to serve as the ultimate resource for users.
- Conduct research, gather requirements, and stay up-to-date with software features and updates to deliver accurate and relevant documentation.
- Collaborate with product and support teams to ensure content is accurate, up-to-date, and aligned with product updates and user needs.
- Create troubleshooting guides, step-by-step tutorials, and use case examples to support customers.
- Assist in product release documentation by compiling release notes and new feature documentation to be shared with customers and internal teams.
- Develop and maintain content standards to ensure consistency across all documentation, training materials, and support content.
- Routinely inspect, manage, and update existing product documentation, user guides, knowledge base articles, website, and marketing materials.
- Record short videos composed of screen recordings and narration as tutorials or demonstrations for use in the knowledge base and elsewhere.
- Create short tips & tricks videos and other product education materials for social media and marketing efforts.
- Continuously improve product documentation processes and practices to streamline content creation and maintenance.
- Participate in weekly Product Team meetings to remain informed about developing features.
- Review customer support conversations to identify areas of product documentation improvement.
- Coordinate with the customer support team to develop resources to solve customer issues.
- Participate, host, and/or organize educational webinars for our customers.
Qualifications:
- Experience in technical writing, instructional design, or a similar role.
- Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to refine and improve technical content for clarity, accuracy, and user comprehension.
- Proven experience in creating and editing instructional content, including written documentation, FAQs, and video tutorials.
- Basic video editing/creation skills
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage multiple content projects.
- Familiarity with different content platforms and adapting content to each.
