About the Role: You will be trained to represent CourtScribes as a provider of Digital Court Reporting and Support for Sussex County Courthouse in Delaware and must live within an hour of the courthouse. You will be a trained and certified digital court reporter for remote zoom depositions and proceedings if needed. As needed, you will provide support with post production and transcript work. When you are not assigned work at the courthouse, you will work remote from home. You will average 25-40 hours per week.

Among the responsibilities of the role are:

  • Provide excellent customer service and support to Judges, Clients, and court personnel.

  • Attend and perform testing sessions alongside trial technicians to troubleshoot and ensure that all parties are comfortable with equipment set up.

  • Attend Hybrid Trial Assignments in a courtroom and remain attentive during proceedings to ensure digital equipment is functioning properly and consistently.

  • Quickly and efficiently set up, maintain, troubleshoot and break down audio and digital equipment in courtrooms.

  • Remain in consistent communication with Remote Trial Operator and CourtScribes Leadership during testing sessions and hybrid sessions about any questions or concerns.

  • Digitally record depositions and other legal proceedings (audio and/or video)

  • Provide real-time note taking, live playback of recordings and necessary documentation

  • Post-production, research duties and interactions with customers

  • Opportunity to sell unique services to attorneys in depositions/legal proceedings, as well as over the phone, marketing events, trade shows, and demonstrations.

About YOU: The ideal candidate will meet the following requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED

  • At least one year of college or vocational school education in business administration, technology, legal studies, IT or a closely related field. Additional relevant experience may substitute for the schooling

  • AAERT Certification (Preferred)

  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs

  • MUST be comfortable and have solid experience/background with basic audio/video production concepts and equipment (i.e. webcam, zoom functions, microphones, conference room systems, etc.)

  • Solid computer skills with an understanding and comfortability with the Windows operating systems such as Microsoft Office

  • Able to type 50-70 WPM minimum

  • Currently a Notary or ability to become a Notary within 30 days of employment

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Open Availability (Most work is within Court hours M-F, 8a-6p; you may be reached out to about jobs outside of those hours)

  • Prioritizes punctuality and has the ability to arrive 1 hour before court proceedings

  • Highly professional, self aware and has a strong understanding of Courtroom decorum

  • Highly focused and attentive to detail

  • Able to handle stressful situations and can think quickly on their feet to find solutions in a professional manner

  • Able to operate and troubleshoot basic audio and video equipment

  • Able to be flexible with work duties and can handle change well

  • Knowledge of legal terminology is a plus!
