Job Description:
The banquet captain is responsible for the supervision of catered events which include staff, food presentation, delivery and sanitation for banquet events. The captain manages staff duties and responsibilities for all aspects of assigned events as well as final billing.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
*Sets up banquet rooms and events as instructed and is responsible for supervising and assisting with the set-up, service and clean-up of all assigned banquet functions.
*Greets and welcomes guests and responds to requests in a friendly and courteous manner.
*Serves the food and/or beverage listed on the Banquet Event Order to the expectations that ensures consistency throughout the banquet.
*Holds a pre-function meeting and checks staffing and menus prior to event.
*Responsible for carrying out service elements of catered events.
*Communicates with customers regarding quality of service and product.
*Sets tables and constructs work stations.
*Ensures proper presentation and service of food and beverages.
*Supervises and assigns tasks to event assigned staff.
*Ensures safe handling of food and equipment.
*Handles customer complaints and follows through with necessary action.
*Greets and serves customers in a friendly courteous manner.
*Provides suggestions and input to Events Manager and F&B Manager.
*Actively solves problems wherever possible.
**Cleans designated areas when assigned, banquet storage and rolling bars.
*Sends all utensils to be washed and when returned - checks to see that all utensils and equipment are properly stored.
*Works to ensure overall guest satisfaction.
*At all times must be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow employees.
*Punches in and out as scheduled using TimeVue clock.
*Attends all required training.
*Adheres to all Lancaster County Health Department codes including but not limited to proper use of gloves and sanitizers.
*Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
*Must possess a strong team spirit.
*Ability to effectively communicate with department managers, team members and guests.
*Occasionally lifts and carries a minimum of 30 pounds.
*Job requires frequent reaching, bending, stooping, lifting, shaking, stirring, pouring, carrying and pushing perform normal job functions.

*Ability to occasionally lift and carry a minimum of 30 pounds.
*Ability to frequently reach, bend, stoop, lift, shake, stir, pour, carry and push while performing normal job functions.
*Ability to stand and exert well-paced mobility for an eight hour shift.
*Knowledge of the appropriate table settings and service ware.

*Previous bartending experience preferred.

The purpose of this position is to interact with our guests and ensure they have a great experience when dining and meeting at the hotel. Banquet Servers are responsible for positive guest interactions while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner. At all times, servers are expected to be attentive to our guest needs and making them feel welcome, comfortable, important and relaxed.
Banquet Server will follow through with the proper and timely set-up and execution of banquet events. Set up includes tables, chairs, stages, dance floors and audio visual equipment. Maintain a high degree of professionalism. Maintain all equipment and facilities in an organized, clean, and safe environment.
General Responsibilities
-Review Banquet Event Orders (BEO's) at the beginning of each shift to ensure room are set as contracted.
-Prepare rooms for use; adjusting lights, sound volumes, and temperature as needed before guests arrive.
-Be in communication with the lead event staff regarding any special needs. Assist in ensuring that the events are on time.
-Maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness in all areas of the banquet space.
-Communicate any areas of need, problems, and concerns from guest to Events Manager.
-Ensure that meeting rooms are re-set for next event contract if it is within one day of previous event.
-Keep inventory of all banquet equipment in order and stored in their appropriate areas.
-Provide all group guests with a lasting experience of the hotel with intent for return business.
-Maintaining proper dining experience, delivering items, fulfilling customer needs, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses.
-Delivering Alcoholic and Non-alcoholic drinks for service to your customers table. Properly open and pour wine at the tableside.
-Performing basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor.
-Greet all guests and owners warmly with an appropriate greeting.
-Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently.
