Architectural Millwork Drafter (Advanced)
Cousins Furniture is a custom architectural millwork manufacturing company. We participate in every aspect of building from detailed shop drawings, manufacturing, finishing and installations. We also have various types of computer-based machines such as two CNC machines (3 Axis & 5 Axis), drill & dowel machine and an optimized cross cutting saw. We are willing to train a candidate who is fit to take on a project manager’s typical workload.
Cousins Furniture is seeking an experienced drafter/project manager. This person will be responsible for communicating with builders/designers while also drafting shop drawing or outsourcing shop drawings and providing the production team approved work. This position also includes job site meetings, measuring and answering calls/emails between clients, builders, designers, and other trades. We are willing to train someone who we see fit to handle our size projects.
Responsibilities:
-Consult with production team on building methods prior to beginning a project
-Use critical problem solving to come up with solutions for issues that may arise
-Produce detailed shop drawings with accurate and clearly labeled measurements, guides, materials, finishes and specs
-Collaborate with project managers and production during the development of all concepts
-Value-engineer and plan for production by employing innovative building methods and making intuitive material suggestions
-Continually review and evaluate in-process work and ensure adherence to drawing specifications by working with production and project managers
-Willing to learn other programs if opportunity comes around (Cousins is always willing to train or send someone to be trained in various softwares that we use here. Huge plus for anyone willing.)
Requirements:
-5 years of experience in AutoCAD
-Ability to read and understand shop drawings
-Working knowledge of engineering and design standards as well as manufacturing capabilities
-Previous detailing experience in architectural interiors is strongly desired
-Knowledge of a variety of construction and finish materials including metals, plastics, fabrics, glass, locks, woods and laminates
Skills:
-Some experience in Alphacam or cabinet vision is a big advantage
-Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects on an on-going basis
-Passion for detailing and coming up with solutions
-Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
-MS Office (Word, Excel)
-Must be a natural multi-tasker, who thrives under pressure to meet deadlines
-Must demonstrate a strong collaborative attitude and work well in a team environment
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
