Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team. This individual will play a key role in managing recurring accounting needs, tax compliance, preparing tax filings, and overall monthly and quarterly reconciliations. The Senior Accountant will be responsible for ensuring adherence to tax regulations, identifying tax planning opportunities, and supporting financial reporting requirements. This role requires strong technical knowledge of accounting, tax laws and regulations, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Accounting:
- Obtain accounting documents from business clients and update accounting either monthly or quarterly.
- Work within QuickBooks either to enter initial accounting transactions or update clients accounting via journal entries.
- Accounting in connection with monthly/quarterly business clients using QuickBooks from initial data entry to final trial balance.
- Tax Compliance:
- Prepare and review individual and corporate tax returns (Federal, State, and Local).
- Ensure compliance with all applicable tax laws and regulations.
- Prepare and review tax workpapers, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Tax Research & Planning:
- Conduct research on tax issues and changes in tax legislation, ensuring the company remains compliant.
- Provide tax advice to various departments to optimize tax positions and ensure compliance.
- Assist with tax planning strategies to minimize tax liabilities and improve financial performance.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Master’s degree in Taxation (MST) or similar advanced tax qualifications is a plus.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in public accounting, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax laws, including corporate income tax, sales and use tax, and international taxation.
- Experience in tax compliance, planning, and preparation of financial statement tax provisions.
- Previous experience with tax software (e.g., Lacerte, UltraTax, QuickBooks etc.) is a plus.
