Peer Support/ SAGA Program Assistant
This is a part-time position. Proposed Salary $18- 19 per hour, based on experience.

DAYS AND HOURS OF OPERATION:
Couve Collective is currently open Tuesday and Wednesday 2pm to 6pm and Thursday – Saturday, 2pm to 9pm. The schedule of work will vary according to staffing needs. This person will work for approximately 20 hours a week on a regular basis. Shifts will generally be scheduled during the hours of 12pm – 9pm. This person will work for approximately 20 hours a week on a regular basis. Staff meetings are currently held Tuesday 2:30 -3:30 pm. All staff are expected to attend in-person.
JOB SUMMARY:
The SAGA (Support Accountability Goals Authenticity) Program Assistant will work directly with a case-load of approximately 10 individuals, meeting weekly to provide guidance and support in achieving personal goals. These sessions will be structured around the SAGA curriculum, which fosters pathways toward growth, stability, and recovery through life skills development. SAGA is a 9-month initiative developed for individuals desiring real change in their lives.
In addition to one-on-one support, the Program Assistant will co-facilitate group sessions and assist the SAGA Coordinator with program operations, administrative tasks, and marketing efforts to enhance program visibility and effectiveness.
The Program Assistant will uphold the Café’s mission and values while fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment. This role reports to the SAGA Coordinator and works collaboratively with the larger Couve Collective team. Candidates in recovery from alcohol and/or other substances should have a minimum of two years of continuous sobriety and an active support network.
SCOPE OF WORK:
The SAGA Program Assistant plays a key role in supporting individuals on their journey toward personal growth and stability through the SAGA program, which focuses on developing essential life skills for a healthy and fulfilling life. These skills include, but are not limited to, effective communication, setting and maintaining boundaries, conflict resolution, managing shame, and building sustainable, healthy habits.
This role involves working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, providing both one-on-one guidance and co-facilitating group sessions to create a supportive learning environment. The Program
Assistant will help participants navigate challenges, apply the skills learned, and stay engaged in their personal development.
In addition to direct work with program participants, this role will assist with the daily operations of the SAGA program, including administrative support, marketing efforts, and other background tasks to ensure smooth program delivery. The Program Assistant will collaborate closely with the SAGA Coordinator and the larger Couve Collective team to foster an inclusive, empowering, and growth-oriented space for all participants.
EDUCATION, WORK AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
Education:
College courses or certification training with focus on social services, counseling, psychology, mental health, recovery issues and/or Recovery Coach training preferred. Relevant work and life experience may substitute.
Work Experience:
2-3 years progressively responsible work experience in a position utilizing skills relevant to this position.
Skills and Desirable Qualifications:
Peer Support Certification
Valid Driver's License, ideally with a working vehicle.
Strong organizational skills.
Proficient in computer skills in order to stay organized, communicate effectively via email (Outlook), and input and track data.
Must have strong interpersonal communications skills.
Ability to serve as a motivator, conflict resolver, and “de-escalator.”
Ability to work amicably on a diverse staff team with flexibility, creativity and enthusiasm.
Understanding of the recovery journey.
Ability to embody principles of recovery in daily interaction.
If in recovery for alcohol or substance use, a person must have a minimum of 2 years of continuous sobriety time.
