Primary function

  • Under general supervision of the Medical Director and in collaboration with the administrative team, the physician implements the medical practice delivery model in accordance with the goals of the organization. The physician shares in the quality functions that directly impact medical services and collaborates with the clinical management team in the overall planning and budget activities by performing the following duties personally or with support of team members.

Scope of work

  • Provides quality, recovery oriented patient care following relevant medical practice guidelines, organizational mission, policies and procedures for medical staff to meet DCF licensure, AHCA licensure, and accreditation standards including Interviewing patients to obtain history, performing physical examination, ordering lab and other tests, prescribing medications and treatments.
  • Collaborates with the Chief Clinical Officer and Medical Director to implement desired changes in medical services.Collaborates with the Chief Clinical Officer  and Medical Director to address Electronic Health Record (EHR) and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) goals for standard and qualifications for physicians, APRN, and PAs
  • Works directly with other providers and clinical staff to educate them on our care process and determine what can be done to improve overall care quality.
  • Assists in relevant community outreach, training and or marketing efforts as needed.
  • Participates in various administrative meetings and committees as well as treatment team and clinical staff meetings.
  • Participates in provider and medical care team meetings.
  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations in dealing with fellow employees, supervisors
  • Liaison with all programs and departments to ensure that the organization's objectives are met.
  • Establishes positive relationships with local medical community and attends local medical society functions.
  • Interviews patients to obtain history, performing physical examination, ordering lab and other tests, prescribes medications and treatments.
  • Documents all patient contact accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Performs as an active member of the medical team and provides modeling and support for APRNs and PAs as assigned.
  • Maintains current knowledge of best practices in field of addiction medicine and behavioral health service delivery.
  • Participates in the Medical team on call rotation as needed and during emergency situations may be assigned other duties in support of maintaining service delivery to our patients. 
  • Participates in special projects, grants, clinical trials and other projects initiated by the organization.
  • Maintains Florida licensure and certification as relevant to service delivery.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Chief Clinical Officer or Medical Director.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • 1-5 employees.
  • Directly provides behavioral health services to individuals across the continuum of care. You will provide evidence-based treatment across a range of mental health disorders and co-occurring substance use, and lead measurement-based care for positive clinical outcomes.

  • Maintain patient rights as defined by DCF, AHCA, and accreditation standards.
  • Maintain patient records in accordance with the organization and other regulatory agencies standards. 
  • Follow all established organizational policies and procedures.
  • Maintain the highest standards in ethical conduct and confidentiality.
  • Model ideals of integrity, loyalty, and teamwork.
  • Sustain a positive, caring, supportive, recovery-oriented environment.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from patients and employees.  Ability to calculated figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, and volume.  Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  Ability to perform CPR and other First Aid procedures.
