What are the responsibilities and job description for the Golf Course Superintendent position at Cove Communities?
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversees the maintenance of the golf course, gardens, practice area and automated irrigation systems
- Trains, develops, and manages golf maintenance staff
- Supervises maintenance and upkeep of the fleet of golf maintenance equipment including staff golf carts
- Provides expert guidance on maintaining optimal plant health at golf course as well as provide recommendations to Facilities Department as needed
- Oversees or performs testing and monitoring of turf chemicals to recommended levels
- Works closely with the General Manager and Controller to insure financials are within established budget range
- Supports and follows Cove Communities and Point Sebago policy at all times
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass management practices
- Must currently hold or have ability to immediately obtain a Master’s level pesticide license
- Prior Superintendent experience preferred
- Weekend work may be required in season
- Ability to function well in a high pace, sometimes high stress environment
- Comfortable effectively communicating with all levels of guests and staff
