Job Summary
As a school occupational therapist, you will offer occupational therapy services to students who require intervention according to the parameters set forth in their individual education plans (IEP). You may also be required to meet with parents, teachers, and administrators to develop IEPs for students at various schools within the district.
Your students will vary in age from grades K-12, to be determined by the school district. You may be asked to travel to multiple campuses to perform evaluations or provide services to students. You will perform professional assessments of students’ developmental abilities and progress, providing recommendations of OT interventions that will help maximize their learning potential.
Depending on the individual needs of each student, you will provide tailored pull-out OT services to help students overcome physical limitations in order to be successful in the classroom and develop essential life skills. Services may include developing fine and gross motor skills, sensory-motor skills, play and social skills, and basic self-care.

Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
Master’s degree from an accredited occupational therapy program
Experience
Prior OT experience working in a school setting is preferred, but not required
Licensure and Certifications
Current Occupational therapy licensure within the state of practice
Certification through the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
