What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physical Therapist Aide position at Covelo Group?
The duties of a Physical Therapist Aide are to assist the therapists, supervisor and
director in all aspects of direct and in-direct delivery of care to our patients. Under the
direction of the Director of Rehabilitation, Chief of Physical Therapy and Occupational
Therapy, performs tasks as delegated by the therapist, chief(s) or director.
Major duties include:
Assisting the therapist with scheduling of patients, updating
potential referrals from surgery schedule, creating scheduling tags for new referrals,
transcribing the schedule, distributing schedules to the nursing units, set-up, clean up
and assisting with patient treatment, departmental and equipment cleaning and
maintenance, stocking linen and supplies, clerical functions, effective
communication/documentation, and activities as directed.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to assist therapists in providing care
appropriate to adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
Top 4 Required Skills:
1. Typing and computer/excel basics
2. Previous patient care experience and able to physically assist therapists with patient
transfers and handling
3. Self-motivated to pick up tasks as needed based on job description and training
4. Minimum experience of one year of patient care experience.
Top 3 Preferred Skills:
1. Bilingual
2. strong organizational skills
3. good communication and collaboration skills
Top 3- 5 Daily Responsibilities:
1. Daily PT schedule
2. Assist with 2-person assist with treating therapists
3. Cleaning equipment and rehab space
Education and Training
Minimum Education: High School Degree
Minimum Experience/Knowledge: 6 months or more volunteer or paid experience in a
rehabilitation setting (hospital or private practice) preferred.
Certification and Other qualifications
BLS for Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association.
Los Angeles County Hospital Fire and Safety Certification.
