Job Summary
As a school speech-language pathology assistant, you will work under the direction of a speech-language pathologist to provide speech services to students who require intervention.
Responsibilities:
- Support an SLP in providing prescribed therapies according to IEP parameters
- Assist with speech evaluations and document student interventions and progress
- Relay observations to supervising SLPs
About the Role
You will work with students of various ages (grades K-12) to help them overcome speech limitations and develop essential communication skills.
Prescribed therapies may include exercises for oral motor skills, speech fluency, articulation, cognition, listening comprehension, and oral reading skills.
Requirements:
Education:
- Graduation from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology Assistant program approved by ASHA
Experience:
- Prior SLPA experience working in a school setting is preferred but not required
Licensure and Certifications:
- Current Speech-Language Pathology licensure within the state of practice
- Current Speech-Language Pathology Assistants Certification (C-SLPA)
- BLS certification
