Covenant Christian Schools embraces and teaches from a theological position that is in conformity with the Presbyterian Church of America (PCA) statement of faith and the Westminster Confession doctrinal standards, both of which can be found at https://pcanet.org/about-the-pca-2-2-2/.
We also confess the confessions of faith that the church of our Lord has professed for generations, such as the Apostles' Creed, Nicene Creed, and the Chalcedonian Definition which can be found at the end of this faculty agreement.
This is a summary of our professions of faith that we require all teachers to profess.
- Scriptures: We believe that the Bible is the written Word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in its original manuscripts. The Bible reveals God’s truth, is infallible, and is authoritative in all matters on which it speaks.
- God: We believe in one God, the Lord of glory, to whom all praise and obedience are due from His creatures.
- Trinity: We believe that the one God is revealed to us in the New Testament through the three persons in the Godhead: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are the one true, eternal God, the same in substance, equal in power and glory, though distinguished by their personal properties.
- Creation: We believe that God created all things out of nothing by the Word of His power, and all that He created was good.
- Humanity: We believe that humanity was created good but fell from the high estate God had given them. Through his sin, humanity has been led into ruin and depravity.
- Jesus Christ: We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, truly God and truly man, being of one substance with the Father begotten of His Father from all eternity, and in all ways like us in His human nature except sin. Through His perfect life and sacrificial death, He atoned for the sins of all who will trust in Him alone for salvation.
- Salvation: We believe that all are sinners and are unable to save themselves from God’s displeasure, except by His mercy and grace through faith in Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
- God’s Covenant Promises: We believe that God is gracious and faithful to His people, both as individuals and from generation to generation, according to His covenant promises (Genesis 17:7; Galatians 3:15-29).
- Holy Spirit: We believe that the Holy Spirit is fully God being of one substance with the Father and the Son, proceeding from them both, and unites all who put their faith in Christ to Him, and that through this union with Christ, we receive all His saving benefits, including justification, adoption, sanctification, and glorification.
- Christian Growth: We believe that all Christians united to Christ will grow in the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Although imperfect and through many failings, they will seek to do all things to the glory of God.
- Christ’s Return: We believe that Jesus will return bodily and visibly to judge all humankind and to receive His people to Himself.
Since Covenant Christian Schools is a ministry of Covenant Presbyterian Church, we aim to teach a holistic curriculum that is in accordance with Presbyterian doctrine and practice. While we do not require all teachers to be Presbyterian, we do want to make sure that we are not teaching against the doctrines that are faithfully expressed in our church’s confessional documents.
By working here I agree that I believe the summary of Covenant Christian School’s profession of faith and that I affirm the Apostles Creed, Nicene Creed, and the Chalcedonian definition.
I also affirm that I agree with the five Solas of the Protestant faith (Scripture alone being our highest rule of authority for Christian doctrine, Faith Alone as the instrument cause of justification, Grace alone as the means by which we attain favor with God, Christ Alone as the only mediator between God and man, and Glory to God alone as no other creature should be venerated, receive praise, or prayed to but God alone as He is revealed to us in creation and through His Word.)
I also agree to not contradict the teachings of Covenant Presbyterian Church as expressed in the Westminster Confession of Faith and the beliefs stated in this document.
