This position is for the full academic year, open only to enrolled upperclassmen. Freshmen are not eligible to apply for this position.
Expected hours of work per week : 5-15 hours per week
Work Location & Hours : Writing Center; 8am-10pm
Purpose of the position :
- Serving God and His Church by making better writers
- Honoring student writers as image bearers by offering them hospitality and support
- Developing student tutors so they can grow in their editing, communication, and relational skills
Qualifications for the position :
Excellent writing skillsThorough knowledge of English grammarGood interpersonal skillsReliableProactive in seeking feedbackAbility to work between 10 and 15 hours a weekExpected Duties and Responsibilities :
Tutor students who come to the writing center for helpCommunicate with professors about student visits and writing center assignmentsHelp advertise the services of the writing centerEngage in professional development as a tutorWork on writing-related research projects, as neededLocation : the writing center (Kresge 205)General office hours : Monday to Thursday 9am to 8pm, Fridays 9am to 5pmResume skills development (NACE Competencies required by employers) to be developed
