Qty : Hiring 4

Location : 100% Remote

Terms : Contract until end of 1st quarter 2025, with plans for extensions

Rates : 35-40 / Hr. 1099

Status : Prefer 1099

POSITION PURPOSE :

This position is the key technical position in the organization responsible for the administration of one or more applications to support the systems installed within our client's locations. Responsibilities include various activities such as system installation, set-up and configuration, migration of virtual machines, security administration, testing, promotion and installation of upgrades and patches, change control, troubleshooting and production support.

Point of Sale (POS) Server Migration across 540 Locations nationwide. This will be remote support migrating each retail location's POS Virtual Servers from VMware ESXi to Microsoft Hyper-V. Running Python Scripts, Installing, configuring applications, restoring data, testing and troubleshooting. (NEED 4 SYS ADMINS)

This role will be working closely with an internal IT Project Manager and possible retail staff inside the locations across the country helping them get their POS virtual machines migrated to Hyper-V. There might be Imaging flash drives, scheduling install dates and times and walking onsite personnel through the install schedules and timelines, actual installation according to time zones and security setups for all location devices. Training will be provided.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Prepare site-specific configurations in advance of POS Server Migration go-live install date for each retail location.
Work with on-site tech and staff to install, configure, and test software upgrades.
Use various remote view / control technology utilities to execute python and / or PowerShell scripts to configure the new Hyper-V servers.
Troubleshoot configuration, hardware and software problems related to the POS server migration.
Python, PowerShell and Batch file scripting for application deployment automation and debugging applications.
Troubleshooting services running in a Windows Server 2019 environment
Troubleshooting using command line

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITY :

Technical – not all required

Remote software deployments to hardware devices

Remote support for hardware replacement and migrating Virtual Machines VMs

Remote application support using RDP, VNC Viewer, Dameware or similar tool

iDRAC for secure local and remote server management and helps IT administrators deploy, update and monitor PowerEdge servers anywhere, anytime.

Application support background supporting users and field tech engineers

Deploy, activate, troubleshoot and support Windows systems, Windows Server 2019

Strong application troubleshooting skills

Execute Python scripts to automate tasks.

PowerShell scripting to automate tasks and batch software deployments

PowerShell scripting to gather data from remote workstations and servers to generate reports

Terminal, PC and Device Imaging experience - currently using proprietary software for imaging (NCR PXE)

Experience with installing and deploying VMware ESXi Servers (nice to have)

Experience with installing and deploying Microsoft Hyper-V Servers (nice to have)

Familiar with MVMC (Microsoft VM Converter) or SCVMM (System Center VM Manager)

Error and log file analysis , analyzing log files to aid in the debugging of applications

Knowledge in supporting and implementing NCR POS Hardware (nice to have)

Knowledge in Pre-Boot Execution Environment (PXE) boot a must

Experience in using remote software tools to image, re-image and re-configure devices.

Excellent organization skills. Must be detailed oriented, able to design and implement detailed processes for change management, installation and configuration, production support and other highly complex and technical activities.

Analytical / Problem Solving. Intellectual capacity and ability to gather, sort and analyze data and then develop logical conclusions; critical thinking skills; familiar with problem solving tools / techniques and able to communicate options, conclusions, and recommendations to both the business and the technology teams.

Must be able to communicate with and manage multiple vendors on technical issues and planning.

POSITION MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS (EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE) :

Bachelor’s degree in business or computer science or equivalent preferred. This is necessary to develop self-direction, writing ability, critical thinking, and foundation of software implementation fundamentals

2-4 years of experience in IT-related positions

1-2 years of experience in hardware and software support related positions
