Job Description
Teacher
Purpose:
The teacher provides a safe, stimulating and nurturing learning environment for preschoolers, offering a curriculum that adheres to best practice in the field of Early Childhood Education and is informed by the RI Early Learning & Development Standards. The teacher develops on-going, mutually responsive relationships with families, creating an environment of trust and respect that leads to a partnership for the educational benefit of the child. The teacher maintains professional standards for self and builds positive, supportive relationships with colleagues. The teacher exhibits spiritual maturity, emotional stability and intellectual curiosity.
Educational Qualifications and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is required, with classes in Early Childhood Special Education, Human Development or Child Development from an approved institution of Higher Education
· RI Early Learning Standards Level I and II certificates
· Ongoing professional development/educational coursework
· 2-3 years experience in preschool center/homecare
Physical Requirements:
· Able to lift 30 pounds
· Able to sit, bend, stoop or kneel to achieve children’s eye-level
· Able to sit on floor and/or child-sized chair or cushion
· Able to supervise outdoor play for a minimum of 25 minutes
Reports To: CCNS Director/Education Coordinator

Essential Responsibilities (Included but not limited to):
Daily
· Create and maintain a welcoming classroom environment
· Clean and organize classrooms
· Plan/implement daily curriculum based on RI Early Learning & Development Standards (daily lessons plans on view at all times)
· Safely supervise the children in all aspects of the daily curriculum
· Engage in on-going authentic assessment; use information to inform curriculum planning
· Develop/maintain an accurate system of assessment for each child
· Maintain confidential records of each child
· Engage positively with parents/family members
· Communicate pertinent information to parents in a timely fashion
· Prepare classroom for the next group of children/teacher
· Maintain professional and collegial relationships with all staff members
Monthly
· Attend monthly or regularly scheduled staff meetings and/or professional development training
· Meet with colleagues for a monthly curriculum planning meeting
· Clean/organize the classroom/cubbies/closets (shared responsibility)
· Post/email regular communication to families, i.e. monthly newsletter, classroom highlights, weekly emails, photos, etc. (Bloomz)
Additional Responsibilities (Included but not limited to);
· August classroom preparations
· September staff orientation
· Conferences with the director
· Conferences with parents
· Self-evaluation/Director’s evaluation
· Open House/Family Engagement Events and Opportunities
· Christmas Program/Party
· End-of-year celebrations
· End-of-Year clean up in June
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract
Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 12 – 40 per week
