EMS Coordinator - ED - Nashua - St. Joseph Hospital

The starting rate for this position is: $21.55

Summary

The EMS coordinator is responsible for developing and supporting programs geared toward enhancing pre-hospital care and fostering relationships with local EMS services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry.
• Identifies program opportunities related to EMS care.
• Works in collaboration with other members of the interdisciplinary team to implement pre-hospital and emergency center goals that support the highest quality of patient care delivered.
• Evaluates the support of EMS services through review of patient specific outcomes and protocol compliance.
• Meets requirement of outside regulating agencies, including DNV, CMS, and other agencies as appropriate to the clinical area.
• Coordinates and integrates interdepartmental and intradepartmental services.
• Participates in selection of sources for needed services not provided by the center or the    organization.
• Provides 3 or more educational sessions for pre-hospital and hospital staff members
• Positive feedback is received from EMS pre-hospital providers for emergency services provided at SJH
• Acts as Liaison for all EMS activities within the Hospital, with Pre-hospital Personnel and with the communities that St. Joseph Healthcare serves.
• Responsible for St. Joseph Hospital’s EMS activities with the Community at large, and with the State and National Bureaus of EMS.
• Responsible for St. Joseph Hospital’s activities relating to National, State, Regional and Local EMS Special Events, such as EMS Week.
• Provides report of department activity to include all educational offerings, programs, activities, and annual report of EMS statistics on a per EMS Service basis.
• Organizes EMS activities and establishes priorities based on the everchanging environment.
• Works closely with the Emergency Department Nursing Staff and the Emergency Department Nursing Director to maintain awareness of EMS and maintain a positive relationship with the pre-hospital personnel.  Encourages ED Nursing and ED Physicians to assist with EMS educational opportunities.
• Participates in multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary committees to design and implement system-wide change.
• Promotes a vision of clinical EMS leadership within the system that includes clinical, leadership, and research and education components.
• Promotes efficient delivery of quality emergency medical care by acting to eliminate any barriers to delivering quality care.
• Other duties as consistent with this role.

Job Requirements

Job Knowledge and Skills

• 3-5 years of clinical experience in appropriate clinical area with demonstrated ability in clinical and administrative management

Education and Experience

• Current NH license required
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• Graduate from an approved clinical program of study in emergency care as a paramedic preferred
• Certification in specialty area or administration preferred
• Membership in professional organization preferred

An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this position that involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Lifting/carrying frequently up to 35 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds.  Some stress related to high level of responsibility for quality care.
