Position Summary:
This position coordinates and performs both clerical and clinical activities and functions of the Sleep Center department.

Responsibilities
- Prepares and maintains patient charts to include insurance, registration, correspondence, laboratory and radiology reports, tracks and requests patient records; documents as necessary in the charts.
- Schedules and coordinates appointments, scans and tests; confirms appointments; notifies appropriate departments, in writing, of daily and weekly patient schedules.
- Receives all telephone calls coming into the Sleep Center; assists patients, physicians and others with patient-related matters; relays diagnostic test results to patients per physician's discretion; conducts follow-up phone calls to patients with problems and "no-shows".
- Assists physician with procedures such as mask fitting.
- Performs BP, TPR, and weight on each patient; responsible for alerting physician of abnormalities.
- Performs medical history on each patient prior to being seen by physician.
- Prepares monthly statistical data to be reported to Administrator of Sleep Center.
- Maintains medical supplies in each exam room and office supplies in clerical area.
- Monitors patient insurance for hospital admission pre-certification requirements; assist with reimbursement issues as needed.
- Completes forms required for continuity of care, such as patient insurance, home health and DME.
- Precertifies insurance coverage for procedures and treatments ordered by the physician.
- Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED.
Minimum Experience:
Two (2) years of healthcare experience.
Licensure Requirement:
CPR required.
