The skilled team of Sr. Lab Assistants, Lab Assistants, MTs, and MLTs work together to provide all laboratory services to LeConte patients in a timely manner. In this department, the staff is focused and goal-driven to provide accurate and sufficient results for the people they serve.
Position Summary:
The MLT performs routine and specialized clinical lab tests for use in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by physicians.

Responsibilities
- Performs all routine and specialized lab tests trained for as assigned.
- Runs, maintains and or repairs laboratory equipment.
- Performs and documents quality control samples in assigned work area.
- Cleans and sterilizes laboratory equipment, glassware and instruments.
- Prepares solutions, reagents, and stains according to standard formulas and procedures.
- Answers phones, responds to physician inquiries regarding lab results.
- Maintains required records, reports, statistics, logs, files to comply with requirements of accreditation and regulatory agencies.
- Performs all functions of a Sr. lab assistant as required.
- Receives or collects specimens; organizes and prioritizes work duties. Identifies and labels specimens.
- Follows policies, procedures, and safety standards. Completes required education assignments annually. Works toward achieving goals and objectives, and participates in quality improvement initiatives as requested.
- Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority.

Licensure Requirement:
TN State license, and MLT/MT ASCP Certification.
