Job Summary
Position Summary:
Under the general direction of the Director of Intraoperative Services and the supervision of the Sterile Processing Supervisor, the sterile processing shift leader is responsible for performing all duties related to sterile processing. This person will be accountable for assuring that the work on the shift is done in a timely, efficient, accurate way. They are a leader in the dept and will assure that the staff on the particular shift completes all required work for that day accurately and in a timely manner.
Position Responsibilities:
The technician is responsible for the following: follows St. Joseph Hospital’s policies & procedures; acting as a leader and role model for staff; holding staff accountable for their work; leading evening staff to properly clean and prepare instruments for sterilization; prioritizing the work and delegating work to other staff members such as transporting soiled instruments from the Operating Room to the appropriate workroom; transporting sterile instruments to the Operating Room; assuring that supplies are ordered in a timely and cost efficient manner; maintains excellent communication with co-workers; maintains competency in Sterile Processing; takes part in educational activities.
Position Requirements:
BLS is required within 30 days of hire
CSPDT (Certified Sterile Processing Department Technician) is mandatory within 6 months of hire
MOAB training is encouraged
A minimum of three year previous in-field experience is mandatory and prior leadership experience preferred.
