Summary:
The Endoscopy Surgical Services CCMA is responsible for supportive tasks that assist the Endoscopy Technician, Health Unit Coordinator, and Unit Aide. Also responsible to provide basic patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse. The Endoscopy Surgical Services CCMA demonstrates excellent customer service consistent with the standards contained in the mission, vision and values of Covenant Healthcare.
Responsibilities:
Assists the Health Unit Coordinator or Registered Nurse with posting cases to the procedure schedule
Assists Unit Aide with cleaning carts and making beds between cases as able
Schedules procedures as needed
Collaborates with coworkers in a friendly and cooperative manner
Assists with patient transports as directed
Communicates updates and problems in a timely manner to management
Has clinical and social contact with patients, including all age groups
Assists with simple procedures and follows standard precautions
Assists Endoscopy technicians in the scope room. Duties include proper scope handling, cleaning and testing. Performs quality checks, assembles scopes for appropriate scheduled procedures
Performs vital signs, measures height and weight and other data as requested
Ambulates, transports, and positions patients with proper body mechanics
Collects urine specimens, sends lab specimens appropriately
Develops knowledge and competence with Provation
Actively participates in quality management
Participates in patient care and unit activities to achieve compliance with all regulatory requirements
Makes recommendations for improvements, enhancements, resolutions
Assists with quality checks, temperature checks, and other HFAP required monitors as assigned
Attends and participates in monthly staff meetings
Other duties as assigned
Education/Experience:
High School graduate, completion of Nurse Aide, Medical Assistant, or Home Health Aide program
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Strong oral, writing and communication skills
Strong organization skills with attention to detail
Highly motivated and self-directed
Ability to work independently or function effectively on a team
Demonstrates sound judgment in difficult or sensitive situations
Consistently demonstrates confidentiality and adherence to HIPPA guidelines
Must be able to work well with the public and also remain tactful in often hectic and stressful situations
Knowledge of existing software systems within the hospital
Communicates with patients and families in a professional, therapeutic and courteous manner.
