Summary:
This individual is responsible for the development and maintenance of laboratory systems, databases, and policies to keep the laboratory up to date on laboratory billing practices and maintaining compliance with federal regulations. The Laboratory Technical Services Administrator is responsible for aligning Laboratory registration and billing practices with CMS and other insurance providers. He/She works well with all Covenant Departments including finance, patient accounting, information systems, and laboratory leaders to develop and maintain accurate registration practices to maximize revenue recovery. This individual also assists Laboratory Information Systems with projects to keep the laboratory in compliance with all regulations. He/She utilizes effective oral and written communication skills in the promotion of teamwork. Assignments may be broad in nature and usually require appreciable originality and ingenuity. The Laboratory Technical Services Administrator is the under general supervision of the Lab Services Manager but has latitude for unreviewed action or decisions.

Responsibilities:
Monitors VitalWare, ABN follow up report, and medical necessity workques, providing education for compliance, and follow up for revenue recovery.
Reviews the Charge Router for inaccuracies in Beaker, Safetrace and Haemonetics, initiates corrections and provides feedback for education.
Sets up Prior Authorizations once identified by billing. Monitors prior auth workques for education and revenue recovery efforts.
Enters reference lab charges for testing that is not interfaced.
Review of denials report
Attends and actively participates in meetings for JVHL, IT, Revenue Enhancement Committee, Lab Denials, Covenant Contracts, and Lab Services Strategic Planning
Reviews literature, memorandums and attends seminars, to keep up with changes from NCCI edits, and new/deleted CPT codes, etc.
Works in conjunction with patient accounting, finance, and information systems to develop the best systems and follows changes from their initiation to completion with updates to the director of laboratory services on progression.
Collaborates with Corporate Compliance and works with other Covenant Departments to make necessary system changes to comply with federal/insurance regulations.
Reviews compliance and system errors, incidents, complaints, and improvement reports; facilitates their investigation, identifies patterns of potential concerns, develops and implements solutions/systems/policies in collaboration with administration.
Responsible to work with laboratory managers and coordinators in the development and monitoring of an effective quality assurance program.
Projects a positive and optimistic image of Covenant Laboratory through professional, courteous and effective interaction within the department and among all Covenant Departments.
Comply with all Covenant and Laboratory policies, procedures and safety practices.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
Baccalaureate degree in health science or related field.
3 – 5 years of experience in clinical laboratory preferred. Experience with personal computers, word processing, spreadsheets, Microsoft Excel and Power Point, etc. required.
