Overview
The Nurse Practitioner will provide support in an urgent care setting. The Nurse Practioner will take medical histories, perform physical examinations, order and interpret laboratory tests, x-rays etc., diagnose and treat illnesses and injuries under a physician�s supervision. The Nurse Practitioner demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Mission, Vision and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation.
Responsibilities
Experience in wound care, dressing changes and OCL application. Strong patient assessment skills; taking medical history, performing physical exam and treating illnesses and injuries. GYN assessments and procedures may be necessary. Medication within scope of licensure and facility limitations. Initiates and orders appropriate diagnostic testing when needed. X-ray interpretation skills beneficial. Will participate or direct regulatory activities in compliance with CLIA, HFAP, OSHA, EMTALLA, and Corporate Compliance/Covenant guidelines. Maintains a professional, courteous and compassionate approach to patients and staff.
Qualifications
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Graduate from an accredited institution. Certification as a Nurse Practitioner. Continuing medical education as required by the certification. Current Michigan licensure. 3 years of experience preferred or previous experience as an RN. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES Experience in family practice (both pediatrics and adult patient care preferred. Computer literate, must be able to work with an EMR system and PAC system while providing patient care. Ability to assess and treat patients with limited history and background in a timely manner. Should be able to average 5 patients per hour. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHSYICAL DEMANDS Ability to maintain punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards Constant handling, feeling, talking, hearing, and near vision.
