What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Maintenance Associate position at Covenant House Alaska?
Position Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Associate reports to the Assistant Facilities Manager and will assist primarily in providing services related to the physical maintenance of CHA and other contracted facilities and in janitorial duties. Maintains facility premises including routine maintenance and repairs, both interior and exterior, in a clean and orderly condition. Supports program staff with necessary maintenance requests.
Essential Functions:

Handles routine maintenance, repairs, and cleaning of equipment and the physical plant(s).

Informs supervisor on issues and needs regarding the maintenance of facilities and equipment and providing services as requested by superiors.

Assists in the maintenance of inventory logs for all equipment and material and helps to control the movement of supplies and equipment off-site.

Takes a physical count of items in use or in storage on and off-site storage areas.
-
Follows maintenance request process.

General housekeeping duties.
-
Responsible for ensuring clean and well-kept work, living, and external areas at all CHA facilities.

Assists program and Admin staff with heavy lifting, equipment cleaning and maintenance of areas and equipment.

Provide for receiving, sorting, and using donations and other supplies in the safest and most productive manner for the agency.

Assists as needed with fundraising affairs and special events which may be conducted outside the employee's normal work schedule. This may include participating in event set up or disassembling apparatus during or after events.

Safely and properly handles all agency property including tools, equipment, and chemicals.

Proactive in taking on other duties identified or as assigned.

Participate in Support Services On-Call rotation to support the 24/7 operating hours the of Agency

Keep supervisor fully informed at all times

Ensure the safety of youth seen by CHA at all times
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma required, further training in a maintenance or janitorial field preferred.
Experience
One year of related experience and a demonstrated ability to perform maintenance and janitorial tasks.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

Understand and comply with all Agency policies and procedures; including Child Protection Policies.

Can maintain confidentiality while understanding and complying with requirements of mandated reporting, duty to warn, HIPAA, and other limits to confidentiality.

Willingness to utilize training opportunities in support of personal and professional growth, competence development, and to increase overall capacity to best serve the organization every day.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fluid environment.

Proficient with standard computer operating systems. Ability to navigate Microsoft Office Suite, online databases, and other programs and websites as required.

Willingness and ability to work outside of normal business hours as well as Holidays and weekends as needed.

Willingness and ability to attain a CPR/First Aid Certification.

Pass federal, state, and local background check investigations.

Possess a valid Driver's License with an insurable driving record.

Technical skills in routine facility maintenance and vehicle up-keep.

Knowledge of and technical abilities in trades such as carpentry, construction, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and HVAC.
Working Conditions

Position will work in a variety of settings, both inside and outside, and at times in inclement weather (Snow, Rain, etc.).

At times will occasionally work above 6' in height.

Noise level is mild to moderate, potentially in areas wear ear protection will be needed.

Must have the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.

Must have the ability to observe details within close range.

Must be able to remain in a stationary, standing, or crouched position for extended periods of time.

Must be able to move within dynamic environments and at times uneven footing.

Must be able to ascend/descend stairways and within a three-story building with and possibly without the assistance of an elevator
