PURPOSE OF POSITION :
The Grants Manager plays a critical role in securing the financial resources necessary to support Covenant House Florida’s (CHF) mission of serving homeless youth. This position is responsible for developing and executing comprehensive grant strategies, including researching funding opportunities, crafting compelling proposals, managing reporting requirements, and cultivating strong relationships with public and private funders. The Grants Manager collaborates closely with program, finance, and development teams to align funding strategies with CHF’s priorities and growth goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Covenant House Florida reserves the right to unilaterally modify, remove, or add to any of the following :
- Meet or exceed Key Performance Indicators to ensure the financial resources needed are available to deliver the mission, vision and programs of Covenant House Florida. KPI to include but not limited to, grant acquisition, grant renewals, grant upgrades, donor / funder engagement and total revenue secured
- Utilize provided tools, maintain and develop systems to research and analyze current and new funding opportunities from Federal, State, Local, and private philanthropic sources that would best align with CHF’s goals, objectives and strategic needs
- Successfully research, write, submit and secure grants from a diversified portfolio of funders to meet or exceed the annual budgeted revenue goals and the arising needs of Covenant House Florida and the young people we serve
- Maintains the Grant Tracking System and submits weekly reports to the Chief Development Officer to include status of research, funding, denials, submissions and reporting of prospective and current grants.
- Ensure compliance with funding guidelines and deliverables for private foundations, corporations and federal / state / local agencies for all grants.
- Participate in monthly, quarterly meetings and visits with funders. Complete and submit all required grant reports and follow up tasks on time.
- Maintain appropriate, timely and relevant communication with all grant funders,
- Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of grant management systems which include but is not limited to updating and maintaining all CHF user access, reporting, general tasks, renewals, etc.
- Works with the Chief Development Officer to develop, update and implement the annual stewardship plan for funders which will provide meaningful and curated stewardship that inspires and motivates increased giving
- Works effectively with the Chief Program Officer (CPO) to ensure the grant submissions align with program needs and communicates to the CPO grant deliverables in a timely manner
- Works effectively with the Chief Financial Officer to ensure proposed funding streams are fiscally responsible, as well as grant reporting requirements are met and completed in a timely manner.
- Work with the Development Coordinator to ensure funder portfolio records are current with all necessary and pertinent information, input contacts and interactions into donor database regularly, and utilize donor data to assess personal progress and performance
- Represent Covenant House Florida as needed in networking, public speaking, community and social events
- Assist with driving participation, securing sponsorships and participating in Sleep Out and other major fundraising events for Covenant House Florida as needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS :
EDUCATION Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in nonprofit management, public administration, communications or a related field preferred
EXPERIENCE Five years of progressive grant writing and management experience, with a proven track record of securing six-figure grants from government agencies, foundations, and corporations required. Three years of experience managing federal, state, and local government grants, including compliance and reporting preferred. Nonprofit development experience preferred.
SCHEDULE : This position is typically scheduled Monday-Friday for an 8-hour shift per day. However, there may be occasional times when shifts may take place outside of regular Monday-Friday business hours for events or meetings. This is not a remote based position.
SKILLS FOR SUCCESS
TRANSPORTATION Must have a valid Florida Driver’s License and vehicle insurance with an acceptable driving record. This position requires the incumbent to travel occasionally to donor meetings, training and community events / meetings.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may work occasionally in outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. Ability to work standing, walking, and / or sitting a minimum of 8 hours per day / shift. Some weekend / holiday work may be required. Ability to drive agency or personal vehicles to transport items and / or persons. Ability to travel as needed for training, donor meetings or to fulfill job requirements.
SUPERVISORY DUTIES There are no supervisory responsibilities with this position.
EQUIPMENT USED Must be proficient in usage of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Google Office Suite, and internet-based software. Experience with grants management systems and donor data software preferred. Candidate will be trained on Every Action.
Due to licensing requirements, Covenant House Florida applicants will not be permitted to begin employment service until they have been cleared by a Florida and national criminal background search. All applicants for employment will be responsible for the cost associated with instituting background checks and will be eligible for reimbursement after 90 days of service.
