What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager Planning position at Covenant Logistics?
Directly manage the work of Load Planners with authority to take actions and/or make recommendations, often requiring the exercising of discretion and independent judgment with respect to significant business matters. Coach and teach staff on objective rules and policies while teaching soft skills, assisting in difficult situations, gathering data for executive management, and managing staff scheduling.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Ops Managers in Customer Service and Fleet Management to maximize utilization and revenue.
- Collaborate with Ops Managers in Customer Service and Fleet Management to regularly audit SOPs and policies to drive efficiencies, limit errors and monitor compliance.
- Coach, mentor, measure and manage Load Planner performance.
- Assist in finding solutions to cover loads.
- Escalate issues timely to Director and other applicable parties.
- Direct work flow among Load Planners.
- Perform administrative duties associated with managing employees.
- Create and maintain training materials.
- Maintain data integrity in all programs while managing daily responsibilities.
- Prepare and present pertinent data for daily management meetings.
Requirements:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast paced and demanding environment.
- Highly organized, comfortable with prioritizing, and making decisions with good discernment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or function in a team environment sharing responsibilities, roles and accountability.
- Have a good understanding of geography and interstate system in the United States.
- Be able to calculate transit and understand time zones.
- Adaptability and creative problem-solving skills are a must.
- Must have high level of familiarity with DOT regulations and other FMCSA rules.
- Strong conflict resolution skills required.
- Project Management and Domo knowledge are a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Logistics or similar field required. 1 year of relevant work experience may be substituted for each year of education required.
- 3 experience in the transportation industry required.
- Prior leadership experience preferred.

Pay Range: $56,146.95-$88,833.12
