Position Description
Position Title: Custodial Maintenance Coordinator
Reports to: Superintendent
Summary:
The Custodial Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for performing and overseeing all aspects
and management of the school facilities and grounds. He/she also keeps the school buildings
operating in an efficient manner that causes no disruptions or interruptions to the educational
program.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Post-secondary training, prior experience, and/or proficiency in a trade is required (i.e.,
mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc.).
Maintenance and custodial experience is preferred.
Knowledge of, and experience with, HVAC control systems and preventative maintenance is
required.
Availability to respond to building and/or service emergencies at any time.
Certification as school bus driver preferred or willingness and ability to obtain such licensure.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Regularly inspects the district’s buildings, grounds, and equipment and corrects unsafe
conditions.
Performs ongoing preventative maintenance and minor repairs on, but not limited to,
plumbing, electrical, custodial equipment, building structure, and hardware.
Performs ongoing preventative maintenance on, but not limited to, HVAC, electrical equipment,
boilers, booster pumps, and softeners, and schedules repairs when necessary.
Performs normal operator adjustments, and service to facility operational equipment such as,
but not limited to, compressors, boilers, HVAC, booster pumps, and softeners.
Performs routine and preventive maintenance on all equipment such as, but not limited to,
school vans, the pickup truck, lawn mowers, lawn tractors, golf carts, sprayers, salt spreaders,
and the side by side.
Maintains work related records and prepares various reports as directed.
Schedules all building inspections.
Creates and implements an overall plan for the districts grounds which includes, but is not
limited to, fertilizer treatment, mulching flower beds and trees, watering, and landscape work.
Assists in mowing and snow removal.
Consults with district administrators to ensure the effective delivery of services, identification of
needs, and the maintaining of appropriate records.
Strives to develop rapport with others and maintains the confidentiality of privileged
information.
Upholds board policies and follows administrative procedures.
Promotes a positive image for the school district, serves as a role model for others, and
exemplifies responsible and shared leadership.
Keeps current and shares knowledge about advances in equipment and technology.
Responsible for the hiring, evaluation, and discipline of maintenance and custodial staff.
Directs the daily activities of the custodial/maintenance staff.
Maintains a clean and sanitary environment throughout the district.
Orders cleaning and maintenance supplies for the district.
Schedules custodial overtime for events and activities.
Schedules expert technicians and creates requisitions for supplies and purchased services as
needed.
Ensures football/band practice fields are lined.
All other duties as assigned.

pushing, pulling, and working at various heights.

in the District
