Position Summary:
As a part-time Lab Technician I, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine laboratory tasks to support the diagnostic testing process. Under the supervision of the Lab Supervisor or Lab Manager, you will assist in specimen handling, sample processing, equipment maintenance, and maintaining a clean and organized laboratory environment. You will be challenged to continuously learn hard and soft skills such as scientific development and priority management. This position is ideal for individuals with a strong interest in laboratory science and a desire to contribute to the healthcare industry.
How You Will Contribute:
- Support testing for multiple assays including: rapid tests, nucleic acid extraction, RT-PCR, immunoassays, analytical chemistry, as well as other characterization techniques.
- Routine laboratory maintenance, including equipment maintenance, preventative maintenance, and lab cleanliness.
- Identify instrument, supply, or specimen problems and demonstrate acumen to either resolve or elevate to supervisor.
- Perform specimen collection, receipt, and accessioning.
- Assist in customer support to ensure best possible patient care
- Assist in inventory management.
- Organize and maintain documentation.
- Perform waived testing onsite or at events.
- Operate automated equipment under supervision.
- Participate in development and execution of Research and Development projects.
- Take on additional responsibilities and tasks as assigned, demonstrating adaptability and a commitment to teamwork.
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- BS degree in a life or physical science field.
- Experience with basic laboratory techniques.
- Experience in a CLIA or CAP certified clinical laboratory
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of safe handling of biohazardous specimens and chemical reagents.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- A valid Driver's License and clean driving record.
- Prior experience working in a high throughput clinical laboratory.
- Initiative in making suggestions to streamline procedures and improve productivity.
Note: This position requires sustained work in a laboratory that will be collecting samples for COVID-19 testing and assaying potentially infectious materials. The company has implemented appropriate precautionary measures where necessary.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour

- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability (when applicable)
