Position Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled Part-Time Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to join our team at our CLIA-certified laboratory. The MLT will perform essential laboratory procedures and tests to support patient care by providing accurate diagnostic information. This role involves preparing, analyzing, and reporting on patient samples under the guidance of senior laboratory personnel, adhering to CLIA and laboratory safety standards. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to precision and efficiency in a clinical lab setting.
How You Will Contribute:
Sample Collection and Preparation
- Receive, label, and process patient samples, including blood specimens, in accordance with lab protocols.
- Prepare samples for testing by applying necessary reagents, calibrating equipment, and running controls
Laboratory Testing and Analysis
- Conduct routine laboratory tests, including chemical, hematological, and immunoassay tests
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment, such as immunoassay, chemistry, and hematology analyzers, following operational guidelines.
- Evaluate test results for accuracy and document any deviations from expected outcomes.
- Record test data and ensure the accuracy of all information before reporting to physicians and clinical staff.
Quality Control and Compliance
- Perform quality control tests on laboratory equipment and reagents to ensure they meet specified standards.
- Adhere to all CLIA standards and lab safety protocols, including biohazard management and infection control.
- Monitor and maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization, following health and safety regulations.
Data Documentation and Reporting
- Document and verify test results in the laboratory information system (LIS) with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Maintain accurate and complete records of tests, observations, and analysis, as per CLIA and laboratory standards.
- Communicate findings clearly and professionally to laboratory supervisors, physicians, and healthcare providers as required.
Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting
- Regularly calibrate and maintain laboratory equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Identify and troubleshoot minor issues with laboratory instruments, coordinating with service personnel as needed.
- Manage and document any maintenance or repair work on equipment in accordance with lab policies.
Collaborative Support
- Assist in training new or junior laboratory staff as needed.
- Collaborate with laboratory personnel to ensure smooth operation and efficient workflow.
Our Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Education: Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related field; completion of an MLT program accredited by NAACLS or equivalent.
- Certification: Current Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) Certification
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in using laboratory instruments, computers, and laboratory information systems (LIS).
- Knowledge: Familiarity with CLIA regulations, laboratory quality control, and safety standards.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, handle samples with precision, and lift up to 20 pounds.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to work independently.
- Ability to create structure in ambiguous situations and design effective solutions.

Reports To: Technical Lab Manager
Pay: $25-$30 per hour
Schedule:
- Up to 24 hours per week
- Available in afternoons and evenings
- Monday to Friday
- Weekend availability
