Cash Applications Specialist

Due to continued growth, Cowan Systems is seeking a Cash Applications Specialist for our corporate office in Baltimore, Maryland. Duties:
- Prepare and process all cash receipts for all divisions and business units, which include checks, ACHs and wire transfers
- Assist with sorting payments into batches, segmenting them by business units, and scanning them into our database
- Apply cash and wires to corresponding customer accounts based on remittance details provided by customers
- Identify and communicate any customer payment discrepancies, and work directly with the collections team for research and resolution
- Back up team members and participate in projects as needed
- Assist in filing of all reports and daily posting batches
- Alert billing departments on repetitive short and/or overpayments received while posting cash
- Work in a paperless environment to accomplish all assignment electronically.
Job Requirements:
- Ability to work successfully and professionally in a team-based environment
- Must have at least 2 years of experience with Microsoft Excel and Outlook
- Meticulous, strong attention to detail, and have the ability to accurately manage a high-volume workload with tight timelines
- 4 year college degree preferred
- High school diploma required
