THE ROLE OF THE CIVIL SITE ENGINEER:

Cowan Group Engineering (CGE) is seeking a highly motivated Civil Site Engineer with a valid/active State of Oklahoma Professional Engineer’s license to oversee a variety of public and private site projects. We are looking for someone with strong design experience, expertise in civil site projects, and the ability to manage day-to-day design operations. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience working on development, drainage, site civil, or other civil engineering projects in a site management capacity.

This position reports directly to a Team Lead and will:

• Serve as a senior project engineer with autonomy over project-related tasks and act as a primary client contact.

• Manage multiple projects, particularly those with high complexity and/or risk.

• Ensure successful project completion, including adherence to schedule, budget, and profitability targets.

• Develop pricing, scoping, and marketing strategies for proposed projects.

• Create feasible engineering design alternatives to meet project requirements.

• Manage work-in-process, ensure accurate client billing, and monitor accounts receivable and collection efforts.

• Direct project team, providing training, technical support, and mentoring.

• Build, foster, and maintain client relationships, and pursue repeat or follow-up work.

• Maintain accurate design standards and procedures for assigned work. • Collaborate with other engineers, designers, and technicians on project activities.

• Participate in internal and external project meetings as needed.

• Ensure adherence to QC/QA procedures.

• Contribute to proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The ideal candidate will have a valid/active State of Oklahoma licensed Professional Engineer with a Civil Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited University. Candidates will have a minimum of 5-15 years’ combined experience in civil site management and design for projects involving transportation, water, wastewater, and other public infrastructure.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to:

• Demonstrate a proven record of delivering superior project management and client service.

• Show excellent verbal and interpersonal communication to work effectively with teams and clients.

• Work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

• Identify and develop relationships with existing and potential clients.

• Possess strong technical and problem-solving skills with a focus on site engineering and construction.

• Read and interpret plans and specs for civil engineering projects.

Job Requirements

• Valid/active State of Oklahoma Professional Engineer (PE) License.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.

• 5-15 years of combined experience in site management, project design, and construction.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and MS Office.

• Proven record of providing superior client service.

• Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

• Strength in identifying, developing, and interacting with clients.

• Excellent technical skills.

• Ability to read and interpret contract documents and specifications.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong time management skills and attention to detail.

• Ability to manage project team members effectively.

• Ability to work on multiple projects with deadlines.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

• Strong computer skills.
