General PurposeOperates various equipment in the construction, operation, repair, maintenance, and replacement of city water and wastewater infrastructure, streets, parks, and storm drain infrastructure.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOperates a variety of equipment used in the maintenance, repair, and construction of water, wastewater, parks, and street department operationsLocates water and wastewater lines prior to excavationResponds to complaints regarding water leaks, low water pressure, water quality issues, and / or no waterResponds to complaints regarding wastewater backups, stoppages, and / or overflows Makes contact with residents and business owners in areas where water / wastewater services may be interrupted, provides an explanation and estimated time frame when services may be restoredMaintains equipment and tools in proper working order, performing routine cleaning and maintenance of equipment Reports equipment and tool defects to supervisorPerforms required labor, as part of a crew, involved in the construction and maintenance of streets, wastewater collection lines, water distribution lines, water meters, manholes, valves, and fire hydrantsPerforms checks on water booster stations, elevated water storage, sewer lift stations, and other related pumps as directedOperates a variety of power and hand toolsMows grass, trims hedges, and cuts weeds as directedPicks up trash and litter as directedRepairs and installs street signageRemoves, replaces, and reads water meters as directed

Peripheral DutiesResponds to emergency after hour call outs Required to be on stand-byServes as a member of various employee committees as neededOther duties as assigned Special RequirementsMust possess a valid Oklahoma Driver’s license prior to employment with Class B CDL and air brake endorsement, or the ability to obtain these endorsements within six (6) months of employment Must be familiar with or have the ability to become familiar with city code of ordinances, city safety policies and procedures “D” level DEQ certification in water treatment and sewer treatment or the ability to obtain certification within one (1) year of employment
