As a food Safety Assistant, you will play a crucial role to meet the highest standards of safety. you will work alongside a dedicated team committed to sustainable farming practices and the well-being of our community.
OVERVIEW:
Assists with development, implementation and monitoring and documentation of warehouse and Grower safety and food safety programs including SQF, Prerequisites, GlobalGAP, QMS and HACCP. Assists with all Training programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES – FOOD SAFETY
- Implementation, documentation, and maintenance of Food Safety programs (HACCP, SQF, etc.) and Safety Programs to ensure compliance with existing or changing local, state, and federal food safety regulations.
- Maintain safety and food safety programs in the plant and on the farms.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Grower Food Safety programs and policies
- Ensure that Growers are prepared for and pass independent Third-party audits of Food Safety programs.
- Conducts Grower internal audits.
- Advise Growers on matters related to food safety pertinent to their farms.
- Research regulatory and environmental changes affecting agriculture and keep Growers up to date on changes.
- Provide Growers with annual trainings, new Growers with initial training.
- Coordinate scheduling of farm audits, farm visits, Grower communications, follow-up with corrective actions.
- Facility Safety and Food Safety inspections, corrective actions and follow up.
- Routinely monitors all aspects of the food safety programs to ensure the facility personnel are complying with program elements.
- Implements and monitors facility Safety programs (Confined Space, Hot Works, Chemical Safety, Lock-out/Tag-out, Forklift Safety)
- Serves as Safety Lead in monthly Safety meetings. Ensures all Safety issues are documented properly, inspections are correct.
- Back-up trainer. Assists with all employee food safety and safety trainings. Works with Management to schedule. Includes Orientation and refresher training.
- Assists with Onboarding process for all departments, including full food safety, safety, and job specific trainings.
- Documents and maintains employee training log and training schedule.
- Attends technical and industry trainings and seminars to stay current on Food Safety issues.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assists with OSHA and Labor & Industries safety programs as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Must be proficient using Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with Employees, Growers, Vendors, Auditors, and Management.
- Be an effective problem solver with the ability to work independently and possess strong leadership skills.
- Must be willing and able to commute throughout Tieton, Cowiche, Yakima, and Lower Valley for Grower Audits and Industry trainings/events.
- Must be bilingual- English and Spanish

Pay: $19.00 - $25.00 per hour
