Summary: Under the general supervision of the Director of Engineering, the Engineering Technician handles various functions in support of the Engineering department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support all activities within the Engineering department
- Execute written and verbal instructions from the engineers
- Troubleshoot and document warranty returns to determine failure modes.
- Organize and troubleshoot production line rejects so that non-conforming material can be sent back to the vendor.
- Assist in evaluating new product design and modifications to existing designs.
- Setup, operate, maintain, and document test results of prototype experiments.
- Assemble and test low volume production assemblies as needed.
- Communicate with all levels in the organization.
- Read and understand basic schematics, wiring diagrams, and installation instructions on a regular basis.
- Program and test microcontrollers with new revisions of software. (Training will be available)
- Operate standard test equipment such as a multimeter, data logging equipment, various lab equipment.
- Utilize a computer with basic Microsoft programs to log data and create test reports.
- Build production test fixtures and sales demos using Engineering plans and schematics.
- Make modifications to or repair production circuit board assemblies.
- Maintain work area in a clean and orderly manner.
- Perform other assigned duties as directed.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma with courses in electronics from a technical school; or an associate degree in electronics or mechanical engineering; or 2 years previous experience in a similar role; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands:
The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
