Tax and Accounting Manager – Denville, NJ
A growing CPA firm is looking for a dedicated Tax and Accounting Manager to join their team. The Tax and Accounting Manager is responsible for accounting, tax preparation services, bookkeeping and client relationship management. The ideal candidate has at least 15 years of public accounting, proven client service experience, and dedication to supporting business owners as they navigate challenges and achieve success.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preparing multi-state business and individual tax returns.
- Reviewing business and individual tax returns.
- Providing proactive tax planning strategies to optimize client tax positions.
- Responding to clients’ tax notices; overseeing communication with tax authorities on their behalf.
- Maintain financial reports, records, and general ledger accounts.
- Managing client relationships; developing ongoing partnerships and providing high level support.
- Communicating with clients via phone, email, and in person.
- Assisting clients with monthly and year-end financial closing processes.
- Performing monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Ensuring accurate adjustments for cash and accrual differences.
- Conducting trend analysis for clients.
- Supporting the accounting partner as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- 15 years of public accounting experience at a CPA firm.
- Business tax preparation and review experience.
- Experience leading monthly meetings and tax planning discussions with clients.
- Experience with monthly accounting and closes.
- Advanced knowledge of the CCH suite and QuickBooks Online.
- Local Travel to client offices for in-person meetings (25-50%)
- CPA preferred.
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
- Good problem-solving and time management skills.
- Attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
- Passion for and commitment to client service
- Clear, precise communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
- Ability to work independently.
Base salary: $120,000-140,000 bonus, Health, Dental and Vision plans, 401k, and generous PTO.
