The Communications Intern will work closely with the Director, Communications to support impactful programs to drive Cox Communications' corporate reputation. Whether assisting with campaigns or drafting messaging, this role will help position our company as an exemplary community partner. Intern/Co-Op sessions are considered temporary employment. No full-time employment commitments are made. However, depending on our business needs, some interns may be considered for a full-time position following the conclusion of the session conditioned upon the intern graduating from their academic program and being available to commence full-time employment at a specified time.
USD 19.18 - 28.80 per hour
Compensation:
Hourly base pay rate is $19.18 - $28.80/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate's knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Responsibilities:
- Support external communications campaigns that align with our strategic initiatives, including new Cox investment areas and our community investments in Ohio, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Virginia, Georgia, and Florida.
- Assist with daily tasks such as executing campaign plans; coordinating with communications partners, and drafting materials that convey a clear message and resonate meaningfully.
- Assist with fact-checking, researching and project management.
- Support execution of Cox's public affairs strategy to enhance the company's reputation, work with partner and community organizations in our footprint, and support related campaigns.
- Partner with broader Public and Government Affairs team to support a variety of projects as needed.
- Track timelines, vendors and deliverables to ensure projects run on schedule.
- The intern will also get the opportunity to be mentored by team members and participate in meetings, brainstorms, and strategy sessions.

Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in a related degree program such as public relations, journalism, English, marketing, corporate communications, and/or a related field
- Internship positions are located in Hampton Roads, VA and Cox does not provide a housing allowance.

- Able to manage time and juggle multiple priorities to execute high-quality deliverables
