FSCA is currently hiring a Sr Trailer Body Shop Tech to join our Field Maintenance Team to support the future growth of the Company. This is an on-site role and we do not provide emergency road services. If you are looking for a new place to call home, we would love to talk to you! Sr Trailer Body Shop Technician will be responsible for performing advanced structural repairs, small patches, caulking / sealing, water testing, removing decals, sanding / grinding and other duties as assigned such as aluminum and chem-lite, replacement of panels, cross-members, floorboards, framework, welding, fabrication, refrigerated trailer repair, and trailer support repair. Heavily relied upon for advanced structural repairs and triage of complicated repairs by Trailer Body Shop Technician I / II. A successful Sr Trailer Body Shop Technician complies with all company policies and achieves high level performance metrics.
Primary Duties / Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced structural repairs, small patches, caulking / sealing, water testing, removing decals, sanding / grinding and other duties as assigned such as aluminum and chem-lite, replacement of panels, cross-members, floorboards, framework, welding, fabrication, refrigerated trailer repair, and trailer support repair in a Shop environment.
- Support Trailer Body Shop Technician I / II in obtaining correct parts for each job.
- Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations.
- Assist Trailer Body Shop Technicians I / II with advanced / complicated repairs.
- Use hand tools, precision instruments, as well as Trailer tools, welding equipment, lifts and jacks.
- Document according to company standards such as pictures of work performed, parts used, and all findings observed on Repair Orders ("RO") using company issued device and / or Karmak application.
- Inspect all repaired and primed panels for proper and complete body repairs and primer application.
- Work with Service Writer / Estimator / Parts to assess customer needs, provide information or assistance, resolving their problems, or satisfying their expectations.
- Follows and complies with safe operating practices and procedures at all times
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Assist in cleanup at the end of each day for tools, parts, and equipment.
- Applies knowledge that is acquired through formal training or on-the-job experience to perform one's job; works with, understands, and evaluates technical information related to the job.
- Act with integrity, demonstrate honesty and keep commitments. Behave in a consistent manner, keeping sensitive information confidential and adhering to ethical and professional standards.
- Perform minor adjustment and repairs on various types of trailer equipment including small patches, caulking / sealing, and other duties as assigned such as water testing, removing decals, sanding / grinding in a Shop environment.
- Perform intermediate adjustments and light repairs, small patches, caulking / sealing, water testing, removing decals, sanding / grinding and other duties as assigned such as aluminum and chem-lite, replacement of panels, cross-members, floorboards in a Shop environment.
- Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health and environmental policies, and federal regulations, to include OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
- Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives.
- Manage concurrent assigned tasks, making effective judgments as to prioritizing work related activities and time allocations.
- Remain up to date on safety protocols and industry procedures.
- Communicate with Shop Manager and support team to discuss RO findings notes.
