Master Scheduler

Purpose
The Master Scheduler is responsible for level loading machining and assembly production work cells to meet the customer demand. The Master Scheduler, will coordinate schedules and inventories to ensure efficient and effective operation of the facility.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in the preferably in the Aerospace Industry
- Professional certification by the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) or previous purchasing experience
- Lean or Six Sigma Certification
Position Responsibilities
- Responsible for GSS updates that balance demand and supply while optimizing inventory and minimizing the impact of demand volatility across the machining and assembly operations
- Collaborates with operations, leaders, purchasing, customer service and others to coordinate material, employee work schedules and machine availability to efficiently meet customer demand.
- Responsible for planning, initiating and overseeing the performance of all elements of a project.
- Periodically compares current and anticipated orders with available inventory of raw materials; uses judgment to anticipate demand for and to acquire additional supplies as needed.
- Negotiates with outside supply vendors; ensures accurate and timely delivery of orders.
- Integrates sales orders with master schedule; coordinates availability of raw materials, supplies, equipment, and staff as needed to meet delivery dates.
- Maintains master distribution schedule for the assigned facility; revises as needed and alerts appropriate staff of schedule changes or delays.
- Participates in periodic forecasting meetings with sales, marketing, and other related departments; leads additional planning meetings with sales, production, shipping, purchasing, and customer service staff.
- Driving the coordination of resources, equipment and meetings ensuring all important information is shared with internal and external customers at all levels.
- Performs other related duties, as required
Tasks
- Comprehensive understanding of supply and demand to determine out of balance conditions. Managing, forecasting, manufacturing processes, productivity, and efficiency requirements as related to scheduling activities.
- Ability to work in a dynamic environment with multiple priorities and shifting time requirements.
- Ensure materials and equipment are prearranged for production when necessary
- Experience to assess available capacity before planned orders are released and provide customer feedback
- Confer with organizational team members at all levels to discuss issues, coordinate activities or resolve problems.
- Implement corrective actions to address organizational or departmental issues.
- Act as liaison between organization and outside organizations.
- Fully understanding the financial impact of decisions made on a daily basis, including closely monitored non-value added cost in an effort to reduce or eliminate.
- Work closely with shop floor supervision and employees
- Analyze customer miss-deliveries in order to propose improvement action plans: Define and optimize data gathering and exchange to ensure data integrity in systems.
- Assess and report project opportunities, risks and potential solutions.
