We call PCU our pendulum floor. It is for patients that don’t quite need CCU but are not well enough to move to med surg. There are 3-5:1 patient to nurse ratios on this floor.  We have a tiered level of acuity - Gray patients: more acutely ill you will experience things like bipap initiation, cardiac and insulin gtts, these are where the patients that are likely to need higher level of care go for extra monitoring. White patients: are stroke, cardiac, respiratory, and telemetry.  This floor experiences a lot of ETOH and drug withdrawal patients as their clinical condition can change rapidly.

Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
Required: BLS must be obtained within 90 days

Additional Information About The Position For Qualified Candidates
- $1.00 Certification pay
- $1.00 BSN pay
- Utilizes the nursing process to effectively assess the needs of patients, identify a plan of care, and implement and evaluate the care given. Provides direct and indirect care to patients and leads the patient care team toward goal achievement in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act and hospital policy. Leads employees to accomplish all job objectives; inspires confidence and motivation to enhance employee satisfaction.
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Education
- Required: Associate's Degree in Nursing. Must obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing within three years.
Required: BLS must be obtained within 90 days
- Experience
- Preferred: At least five years of clinical experience, one year of charge nurse experience, and one year experience in the area of specialization
- Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrate effective leadership abilities
- Exhibits valuable time management skills
- Strong critical thinking/problem solving skills.
- Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment
- Licensure/Certification/Registration
- Required: RN license active in the state of Missouri
