Job Summary
The Phlebotomy Support Technician II is responsible for the collection and processing of blood and other specimens as directed. Performs proper specimen collection by confirming patient ID, collecting specimens in proper tubes, utilizing venipuncture / capillary techniques, and accurately labeling the specimens to ensure accurate patient results. Processes specimens appropriately for subsequent testing. Accessions, updates information and makes corrections to orders as needed. Demonstrates ability to perform POC testing as directed.Job Requirements
EducationRequired : High School Diploma or Equivalent
ExperienceRequired : 3 months phlebotomy experience in a laboratory setting
Preferred : 6 months phlebotomy experienceSkillsGood verbal and written communication skills
Able to work independently and collaboratively in teamsProficient in using computers and computer systemsLicensure / Certification / RegistrationRequired : Certified as a Phlebotomy Technician or Medical Laboratory Assistant from a nationally recognized laboratory certifying agency
Required : Phlebotomist II’s have 30 days from the expiration date of their certificate to provide an updated certification, as long as there is documentation that certification renewal has been applied for.Phlebotomy Support Tech I
