Job Summary

The Data Cabling Technician will be responsible for installation, testing, documentation and troubleshooting of Cat3, Cat5, Cat6, multi-mode fiber, single-mode fiber, and various other wiring disciplines throughout CoxHealth facilities. The Data Cabling Technician will travel to various CoxHealth locations to perform cabling jobs or troubleshooting cabling issues. The Data Cabling Technician will be responsible for maintaining the Cabling warehouse both at Cox North and in the cabling team vehicle. The Data Cabling Technician will be responsible for obtaining quotes from vendors when supplies are needed to stock the warehouse or supplies are needed for a specific job. The Data Cabling Technician will adhere to above ceiling guidelines set by Engineering and various surveyors. The Data Cabling Technician will assist the Engineering department in the closing of above ceiling permits for all third party vendors. The Data Cabling Technician must be able to work with minimal supervision. The Data Cabling Technician must be detail oriented.

Required: High School Diploma or equivalent

Preferred: Associate degree from an accredited college or university

Experience

Required: 3 years cable installation experience

Skills

Verbal and written communication skills

Knowledge of BICSI cabling standards

Knowledge of ANSI/TIA/EIA-568 UL approved testers

Knowledge of basic telephony/data color code
-
Ability to terminate multi-mode and single-mode fiber optic ends using a variety of termination methods including anaerobic, index matching and crimp on.

Basic computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel and Outlook
