Title: Ground Support Equipment Mechanic
Classification: Non-Exempt
Reports to: Superintendent
Summary:
Ground Support Equipment Mechanic oversees the comprehensive repair and preventative maintenance plan for the golf course’s equipment, including but not limited to: repair, tracking parts purchases, ordering parts and supplies
Essential job functions:
- Diagnoses, inspects, and repairs company equipment and vehicles for the grounds operations department and other areas as directed by the Superintendent in relation to safe and efficient operations.
- Responsible for maintaining records of equipment service and repair, and for the maintenance of parts inventory in an operationally and financially sound manner. The mechanic will also aid in the regulation of employees’ equipment use in the absence of the Superintendent or his designee.
- The mechanic will have to make repairs outside of the shop and in inclement weather or may be instructed to perform tasks on the golf course. Weekend and holiday hours are required at the discretion of the Superintendent.
- Maintain shop working area in neat, orderly fashion and observe working conditions in compliance with all appropriate safety and compliance laws.
- Work with Superintendent and Golf Maintenance Crew in training and safety of equipment with entire staff.
- Maintain records of equipment service and repair, and for the maintenance of parts inventory in an operationally and financially sound manner. The mechanic will also aid in the regulation of employees’ equipment use in the absence of the Superintendent or his designee.
- Maintain appropriate inventory control.
- Ability to keep current with industry trends and training.
- Assist with mechanical problems in other departments and provide assistance to guests in emergencies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Physical Demands:
Must have a valid driver’s license
Must be able to frequently sit, stand, bend, kneel, walk and crouch
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs., and to lift overhead and push/pull, move lighter objects.
The co-worker can be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat.
The employee is occasionally exposed to wildlife such as snakes, scorpions, spiders, bees and hornets
Qualifications:
Three years’ experience of heavy-duty equipment and vehicle repair, diagnosis and maintenance.
Must be skilled in tool use and welding.
Must have a cooperative personality and be able to work efficiently with little supervision.
