Maintenance Technician Job Description
The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic installs, repairs, fabricates and maintains production equipment, buildings and other infrastructure needed to manufacture quality Aluminum and Steel products for the marine industry.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Included but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Install, set-up and maintain equipment as directed;
- Performs scheduled preventive maintenance tasks and periodic inspections on production machinery and equipment. Lubricates and cleans parts. Adjusts devices positions and controls.
- Troubleshoots mechanical failures. Repairs or places defective parts. Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts. Installs parts into devices. Starts devices to determine their performance.
- Maintains spare parts inventory. Computer work as workload dictates.
- Keeps an accurate record of work performed.
- Keeps work areas clear and free of debris.
- Read schematics, renderings and drawings to fabricate, install or repair various tooling, equipment and infrastructure;
- Operate drills, mills, lathes, and other power tools;
- Operate arc/gas welding and cutting equipment;
- Use various hand-tools of the mechanical and electrical trades;
- Operate industrial trucks such as forklifts;
- Work with other employees in troubleshooting equipment malfunction and emergency repairs;
- Determine when mechanical parts are repaired or replaced;
- Use safe work practices regarding LO/TO, PPE, HazCom, Electrical, etc;
- Possess the necessary tools of the trade;
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 3 years maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Must have knowledge of industrial equipment maintenance and repair.
- Must have basic computer skills, hydraulics and pneumatics aptitude.
- Must read and interpret Hydraulic, Pneumatic and Electrical schematics.
- Mechanical troubleshooting skills, electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds on as needed basis.
- Must be able to stand, sit, walk, stoop and bend for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Proficient English language skills to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals, write routine reports and correspondence, and communicate effectively with vendors, contractors and employees of the organization.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in changing situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.
