JOB SUMMARY:
The Student Academic Advocate is responsible for administration of all matters related to tribal youth students in the program, including the following: selection, monitoring, scholarship administration and intervention if required. This position geared around supporting students and assisting in removing barriers that will allow students to be successful. The primary goal of the Student Academic Advocate is to provide support and structures to students to help them graduate.

Minimum Qualifications

- Associates Degree in education related field or able to demonstrate equivalent work experience (High School Diploma or GED required).
- Valid California Driver’s License and insurable.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- CPR Certified or be able to obtain with the first 90 days of employment.

- Proficiency in Microsoft programs.
- The ability to work independently.
- Be able to multitask and take direction well.
- Able to deal with crisis in an appropriate manner.
- Able to demonstrate effective and diplomatic client service and communication skills, which includes contact with staff, tribal youth and parents/guardians, and other agencies.
- Able to track, monitor, and report performance.
Language Skills
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally.
Reasoning Ability
- Must have the ability to deal effectively and interact well with the customers and employees.
- Must have the ability to resolve problems/conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
