Summary
Performs interpretive patient care and technical functions to ensure proper echo and vascular diagnosis of patients, under the direction of the Director of Radiology. Provides expert echo and vascular imaging procedures to assure a high level of quality care and service to patients, physicians, and customers in and outside of the Radiology Department, in accordance with the philosophy, goals and objectives of Cozad Community Health System.

· Receives and reviews requests for echo and vascular procedures. Reads requisition and physician’s referral or order to assure correct exam is performed.
· Accepts patients and assesses condition to determine proper handling and any special requirements.
· Ensures best patient care and documents as exam warrants.
· Reviews available clinical data from charts to alert nurse/provider to any possible contraindications for procedures.
· Assesses patient condition accurately determining patient’s ability to comply with the physical requirements of the examination to minimize patient or exam problems. Provides competent, safe, and effective patient care.
· Works with multiple EHR software programs.
· Attends all required safety training programs.
· Records documentation accurately and timely.
· Follows the hospital exposure control, bloodborne, and airborne pathogen plans.
· Demonstrates respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees to ensure a professional and responsible environment.
· Provides quality healthcare services to all patients.
· Follows all HIPAA guidelines and promotes and ensures patient safety.
· Fulfills mission statement by performing job duties with a high level of customer service while contributing to a positive and professional environment.
· Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Graduate of an AMA approved Sonography program. Proficient with the principles and practices of Echo and Vascular ultrasound as outlined by the State of Nebraska Health and Human Services. Understanding of ultrasound patient care procedures and medical terminology required.
Licensure/Certification
Current RDMS Registration or registry eligible
Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) required
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) required
Basic Life Support (CPR)
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with patients, visitors, and employees.
