Summary
The Wound Care Nurse provides acute and rehabilitative care for people with selected disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems. The Wound Care Nurse also provides direct patient care to people with fistulas, drains, tubes, pressure ulcers, and incontinence in accordance with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of Cozad Community Health System.

· Utilizes the nursing process for the performance of patient care to assess, plan, intervene, and evaluate patient care to achieve prioritized patient outcomes according to the scope of practice.
· Performs admission assessments, gives medications, performs patient education, and evaluates patient progress towards discharge.
· Utilizes the nursing process when directing delivery of care to patients identified with wound, ostomy, and incontinence care.
· Collaborates with Medical Staff, management, and other healthcare team members to coordinate and manage the plan of care for patients.
· Administers treatments and procedures in a timely and safe manner according to physician orders and nursing policy, using standard precautions.
· Performs and maintains documentation.
· Participates in ongoing and systematic quality improvement efforts while providing quality healthcare services to all patients in a financially responsible manner.
· Ensures adequate documentation and accurate charge capturing for Chargemaster.
· Follows all HIPAA guidelines and promotes and ensures patient safety.
· Fulfills mission statement by performing job duties with a high level of customer service while contributing to a positive and professional environment.
· Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Associates Degree in Nursing required. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Prior wound, ostomy and electronic health records experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification
Active State of Nebraska Registered Nurse (RN) licensure, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Multi-State Licensure in a Nurse Licensure Compact State
Basic Life Support (CPR)
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
