Job Description
Cozen O'Connor is seeking an experienced paralegal with a minimum of 5 years of experience working in a plaintiff-oriented practice to support the attorneys in the Subrogation Department. Candidate will have proven civil litigation experience with knowledge / experience of state and federal courts, rules of civil procedure and e-filing. The candidate will be expected to work flexible hours and overtime as needed from time to time. The individual will be part of a dynamic team, with the potential of working across different offices and time zones, and will have access to resources like HR services, training programs, and firmwide communications to support their professional development. The firm is offering a hybrid work schedule of 3 days in the office, 2 days remote for all paralegals.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and summarize damages
- Case file management (create, organize, track and maintain files; monitor calendars and meeting deadlines; document actions; input information into file database and case management software).
- Document management including but not limited to review of documents, bates labeling, organization of documents and compiling information for discovery responses / pleadings / motions.
- Coordinate scene examinations, destructive testing and depositions
- Drafting discovery, court pleadings and motions
- Review financial and business records and prepare chronologies
- Preparing FOIA requests
- Witness and fact investigation
- Trial and deposition preparation
- E-filing in both state and federal court
Qualifications
A minimum of 3 years of experience in a legal environment.
Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
Strong interpersonal skills to build a rapport with team and clients.
Detail oriented, able to work independently, and possess excellent organizational and written / oral communication skills.
Must have the motivation and skill to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Proven computer / technology skills. Microsoft Office Suite a must.
A four-year college degree and / or paralegal certificate required.
