Position Overview:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and passionate Protein Innovation Center Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will act as a subject matter expert, leveraging your expertise to enhance our operations and support our customers. Your contributions will ensure our facility remains a showcase for the latest advancements in food processing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate effectively with internal and external customers, both verbally and electronically.
- Maintain the facility in a showcase-ready state, including washing and sanitizing all surfaces after events.
- Manage multiple projects concurrently, ensuring timely completion and quality outcomes.
- Implement food safety protocols in alignment with Codex Alimentarius (GFSI) guidelines.
- Develop strategies for addressing unexpected business situations.
- Provide subject matter expertise in protein marination and product curing processes.
- Oversee basic test kitchen supplies and tabletop appliances/equipment.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues to identify variables and deficiencies.
- Maintain accurate records of scheduling, protein inventory, and supplies.
- Develop and organize standard training programs for the Protein Innovation Center.
- Source suppliers for protein and dry ingredients as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a related discipline.
- Food Processing Experience with ingredients, meat science, sanitation, and processing preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in high-speed food manufacturing equipment, specifically in meat processing.
- Strong knowledge of beef and pork primal cuts, processed meats, and food product development.
- Basic understanding of meat and poultry laboratory science and ingredient functionality.
- Familiarity with USDA/FDA food safety directives and HACCP certification.
- Global Food Safety Initiative background is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally to pick up supplies and ingredients.
