Job Description:
The Payment Poster-Medical Biller at CPa Medical Billing is responsible for handling all duties associated with Billing, Follow-up, and Collections processes.
Location:
- This position is based in our East Haven, CT office for 5 days a week.
- Remote work option available for candidates residing outside of Connecticut.
Skills Required:

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in payment posting.
- Excellent communication skills for follow-up with patients and insurance companies.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines effectively.
- Knowledge of medical billing regulations and compliance standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSBILITIES
- Post manual checks, insurance, and self-pay payments as they arrive from the client on the monthly spreadsheet. Follow written procedure to post payments.
- Follow procedure to post zero EOB’s and drop balance accordingly, to next payer, to patient or to A/R staff to investigate.
- Post electronic remittances for the month
- Reconcile all entries daily, weekly, and monthly to balance for month end.
- Enter interest payments per procedure.
- Enter returned check transactions per procedure.
- Review entries for errors. Resolve discrepancies calling the client or payer for additional information as needed.
- Transfer insurance payments as needed (when original charge has been altered/voided).
- Utilize payer websites to locate and print EOB’s.
- Thoroughly research the reason for the credit balance and note the charge if credit is legitimate.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS EDUCATION: High School Diploma. Medical Billing and Procedures.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum 1-3 years’ experience in a medical office environment. Experience with Windows applications, proficient use of computer, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Strong communication, verbal and written and interpersonal skills. Ability to analyze and solve problems with limited assistance. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Critical thinking, analytical and problem-solving skills.
